About Home Care
Basic Daily Fees
Providers can choose to charge a daily fee in addition to your package, which comes out of your pocket and adds to the government funding available to you.
What is the basic daily fee?
The government sets the basic daily fee as a percentage of the single basic age pension. It also depends on your Home Care Package level.
Here are the current daily fees. The fees change in March and September each year in line with the age pension.
- Level 1 daily fee $9.63
- Level 2 daily fee $10.19
- Level 3 daily fee $10.48
- Level 4 daily fee $10.75
How often do I have to pay the fee?
If your provider has a basic daily fee, you will need to pay it every day, regardless of how many days you receive a service. These fees will be paid either fortnightly or monthly to your provider.
Do I have to pay a basic daily fee?
Not necessarily. Only 26% of approved providers charge a basic daily fee so make sure you check the comparison tool carefully if you want to avoid paying it. You can also negotiate your daily fee contribution.
